  1. users can rate and comment on medical devices;

  2. users can exchange experiences and opinions on medical devices;

  3. manufacturers can respond to users' comments;

  4. all device forums are open to the public.

Purposes:

Our purposes are:

  1. to help users better understand and use medical devices,

  2. to help users make better healthcare/medical decisions,

  3. to help users make better purchasing decisions,

  4. to help healthcare industry improve their products and develop new products that better meet users’ needs,

  5. to provide real-world materials for students to learn user-centered product design,

where the “users” include but are not limited to:

  1. healthcare professionals,

  2. patients and caregivers,

  3. consumers,

and the “medical devices” include but are not limited to:

  1. those operated by healthcare professionals with special knowledge and training, such as x-ray machine, robotic surgical system, and molecular diagnostic device;

Uniqueness

Users' experience and satisfaction play a primary role in every aspect of design, manufacturing and commercialization of a product.  The healthcare community needs a platform where users can rate and comment on medical devices and exchange experiences and opinions among themselves, while manufacturers can respond directly to users' voice.  Acknowledging the existence of some established and well organized medical-device user-feedback mechanisms (e.g., US FDA's Manufacturer and User Facility Device Experience [MAUDE]), we offer a unique platform that facilitates quantitative ratings of individual devices in different aspects (e.g., performance, safety, reliability, user-friendliness, maintenance, service, cost, and improvement needs), both positive and negative users' feedback, and direct interactive online discussion among users and between users and manufacturers.

Our platform is also different from those users forums established by individual manufacturers to discuss their own products, as our forums facilitate head to head comparison of similar devices from different manufacturers.
